LARGO, Fla. -- Paradyne Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:PDYN - News), a leading provider of broadband voice, data and video network access solutions, today announced that its Jetstream® CPX-1000MG Media Gateway has been selected for deployment by Lightship Telecom, a leading provider of bundled telecommunications solutions to business customers in the Northeastern United States. Deployment of the Jetstream-enabled services is slated to commence this summer. Lightship Telecom has provided New England with business communications services since 1994.

The CPX-1000MG media gateway enables service providers to seamlessly migrate from TDM to packet-based services while enabling low cost, bundled solutions for business and residential customers.

"The Paradyne Gateway has passed successful field trials and is now entering the commercial service phase, which will allow us to serve and grow our core business market customers with higher data rates, more voice lines, and simple service upgrades," said Jeff Koester, COO of Lightship Telecom. "We selected the CPX-1000MG Media Gateway because of its proven reliability and its ability to support both ATM and IP in the same platform. This allows Lightship to offer dynamic T1 services today by leveraging our existing class 5 switches, while enabling an evolution towards a softswitch architecture."

"Lightship Telecom is an example of successful, competitive carriers leveraging our Media Gateway solutions to deliver up to 200% the bandwidth of TDM competitors while bundling the service in a simple, 1-box solution at the customer premises," said Sean Belanger, Chairman and CEO, Paradyne Networks. "Our carrier customers today are focused on delivering customer value and strong internal returns on investment, and Paradyne is well positioned with our newly enhanced Jetstream Media Gateway Platform."
