BASINGSTOKE, U.K. -- Huawei Technologies, one of the world’s fastest growing telecommunications network solutions providers, has appointed Edward Chen to the position of Managing Director for the UK & Ireland.

Edward takes over from Tim Mao who leaves Huawei UK at the end of the month to pursue his career in Huawei outside of the UK. Tim has spent the past three and a half years establishing Huawei’s position in the UK and Ireland.

Edward joined Huawei ten years ago, and most recently has been responsible for Huawei’s entire wireless product business unit on a global basis.

Edward Chen comments: “Over the past year, Huawei’s technical and operational capabilities have received significant endorsements from leading players in the market such as BT, COLT, Fibernet, Tiscali and Smart Telecom. Going forward, we intend to make significant investment into the UK & Ireland to deliver against our existing customer commitments and as part of our overall growth strategy for Europe.”

“Our focus will be on strengthening our existing relationship with BT and growing and maintaining our base with Other Licensed Operators (OLOs), both fixed and mobile. Our Channel Partners will also continue to form a key part of our overall business strategy.”
