SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Entone Technologies, the world's only deployed IP video gateway provider, announced today a new connectivity device that dramatically reduces the cost of enabling and managing triple play services for telco operators. With Entone's Crescendo intelligent Network Interface Device (iNID), operators will be able to combine the functions of traditional NID with the features of the world's most advanced in-home residential gateways.

The new Entone Crescendo iNID is an all-weather residential gateway that consolidates key elements of a voice, video and data service into one compact device that offers:

  • A DSL modem or GPON interface;

  • High-speed IP over coax to facilitate IPTV without new wires;

  • Two voice-over-IP ports that work with standard phone equipment;

  • 10/100 Base-T Ethernet;

  • Networked powered and residence powered options; and

  • Complete IP-layer services, including DHCP, NAT, firewall and more.

Because Crescendo mounts to the outside of the house, it extends the managed portion of an operator's broadband network out to individual subscribers' homes and allows the operator to conveniently and remotely troubleshoot and enable services without the complexity and high-cost of sending out a technician. Crescendo is a high-speed IP gateway with an integrated ADSL2+, VDSL2 or GPON wide area interface. It also supports HomePNA 3.0 over coax or phone line and MoCA over existing in-home coaxial networks. These technologies provide over 100Mbps of whole-house IP connectivity that supports advanced services including IPTV, room-to-room DVR, VOD and high-speed Internet. This enables operators to offer high-speed Internet service in addition to voice and video services, with a much higher bandwidth capacity than that offered by cable TV providers.

"Crescendo complements our IP set-top boxes and gateways and is designed to help service providers deploy next-generation IP services at reduced costs," said Mark Evensen, Entone's VP of Product Development. "As the demand for triple play services continues to increase, operators are faced with the need for a standard, managed connectivity device that serves as the clear demarcation between the operator and home network. Beyond the cost savings, Crescendo also helps operators increase revenues by enabling them to enter the retail side of VoIP without requiring any changes to existing home phones or wiring."
