PETAH TIKVA, Israel -- ECI Telecom Company (Nasdaq: ECIL - News) announced today the introduction of Hi-FOCuS(TM) 4, its next-generation multi-service-access-gateway platform. The Hi-FOCuS 4, to be presented at the Broadband World Forum in London between September 8th-11th 2003, is designed for high-capacity mass deployment of future-proof systems in current and evolving broadband services.

Hi-FOCuS(TM) 4 sets new records in almost every category including density, capacity, connectivity, bandwidth, service offering, flexibility and more, thereby offering multiple benefits to service providers.

Hi-FOCuS 4 enables significant capital cost reductions in existing and new service deployment applications while simplifying operations and service delivery.

Hi-FOCuS 4 provides very high port density of 960 lines per shelf and 3,840 lines per rack and can be deployed with optional functionality of multi-direction test access and line card redundancy. Furthermore, its unique non-blocking backplane architecture supports more than 20,000 simultaneous users with an aggregated capacity of more than 500Gbps and with multiple connections to each user. These unrivalled capabilities enable true broadband connectivity to each subscriber while significantly increasing service breadth.

Additionally, the powerful architecture enables the deployment of both point-to-point and point-to-multi-point (PON) fiber-based networks with various FTTx implementations including FTTC, FTTH and FTTB.

"ECI's commitment to broadband access innovation and to meeting our customers' most demanding needs is demonstrated in the new Hi-FOCuS platform" said Pinny Chaviv, ECI Telecom's Executive Vice President and General Manager of ECI's Broadband Access Division. "Developed on the success of its field-proven predecessor, Hi-FOCuS, ECI's Hi-FOCuS 4 offers service providers the flexibility to offer virtually any broadband service while dramatically saving on network costs".

Supporting a wide range of network interfaces including multiple STM-4, STM-1, Gigabit Ethernet, T3/E3 and E1/T1 interfaces, Hi-FOCuS 4 seamlessly integrates into any network environment. Furthermore, the system supports dual homing, which allows operators to coexist and smoothly migrate from ATM to IP when needed.

Hi-FOCuS 4 enables service providers to generate revenues from advanced broadband entertainment services. With the ability to deliver over 500 video channels, service providers can offer not only multi-channel TV services but also Video on Demand, Video telephony, peer-to-peer services and other bandwidth demanding services. Additionally, Hi-FOCuS 4supports multi-level multicasting for superior video delivery, making it the complete service access gateway.

The Hi-FOCuS 4 also supports advanced aggregation capabilities for local and remote broadband platforms including Hi-FOCuS MiniRAMs and enables thousands of users to be connected via a single interface to the network. The platform can be used as a network aggregator across any existing network infrastructure; copper, fiber or SDH/SONET networks and can aggregate over different transmission rates.

Consistent with the previous generation, Hi-FOCuS 4 is built to accommodate the rapidly growing broadband penetration, save space and easily migrate customers from one type of DSL to another within the same box. The system furthermore, supports all types of DSL including ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+ G.SHDSL and VDSL. It also provides full voice functionality support including direct POTS interfaces, VoDSL, VoIP and Integrated Voice Gateway functionality.
