DULUTH, Ga. -- ARRIS (Nasdaq ARRS) today announced the generalavailability of the next model of the Touchstone cable modem, the CM450A.The CM450A is DOCSIS 2.0 certified and leads the industry in performanceand features. In exhaustive testing and field trials, the CM450A hasdemonstrated superior data throughput and unmatched speed in registrationtime. The CM450A includes a bridged 10/100 Base-T Ethernet and USB datainterface for simplified home networking. It also contains a standby buttonthat disconnects the Ethernet and USB ports from the network for customersecurity and operator convenience.The Touchstone line of cable modems has quickly established itself as aleader in performance and functionality in the cable modem market. ARRIS isalso an expert in supply chain management and has developed solid, reliablepartnerships to guarantee availability of DOCSIS 1.1 and DOCSIS 2.0certified cable modems. The CM 450A and CM 300A are now shipping to NorthAmerican operators. Multiple international cable modem versions, includingthe Euro-DOCSIS-based CM 300B are available to accommodate country-specificrequirements.ARRIS production of the CM 450A and the CM300 cable modem products is ableto meet the anticipated product demand and cover any industry shortfall thatmay occur as a result of the recent patent infringement judgments againstBroadcom’s radio frequency (RF) tuners. ARRIS Touchstone cable modems andembedded multimedia terminal adapters (E-MTAs) use Microtune tuners and aretherefore unaffected by the recent court rulings or any injunctive remediesthat the court may impose on Broadcom in the future.Arris Group Inc.
