DALLAS -- Alcatel (NYSE: ALA) announced an agreement with Squire Creek Communications, L.L.C. for the build-out of the Choudrant, Louisiana-based Squire Creek golf community’s voice, video, and high-speed data communications network.

Alcatel won the contract to supply the industry’s only standards-based residential passive optical network (PON) equipment, the Alcatel 7340 FTTU (Fiber-to-the-User), because of its low-risk implementation, high capacity, and superior value versus cable. Squire Creek residents already are enjoying the benefits of these advanced, fiber-fed connections.

“Squire Creek was built around the principle of providing the utmost in luxury and service to our residents. From our Tom Fazio designed golf course to Alcatel’s broadband access portfolio, we have the finest amenities to offer here,” said Jim Davison, president of Squire Creek. “We are pleased that our high-speed data communications, delivered in one all inclusive communications bundle, are on par with this level of excellence.”

“We have had strong successes deploying the Alcatel 7340 FTTU product with incumbent local exchange carriers and municipal utility customers,” said Mike Dobbs, senior vice president of Alcatel’s fixed networking division. “This contract, our first deployment in a new residential development, demonstrates the flexibility of the 7340 system. Squire Creek reviewed several non-standards based competitive products and they chose Alcatel. We are certain they have chosen the best voice, video, and high-speed data communication system for their residents.”

Squire Creek Communications is the nation’s innovative development model for residential fiber to the home. Squire Creek community members will be able to access the Internet at blazing speeds, watch a variety of video programming, and maintain superior voice and fax communications simultaneously over optical fiber.
