Continuum Photonics appoints Dan Stanzione, retired Chief Operating Officer of Lucent, to its board of directors

BILLERICA, Mass. -- Continuum Photonics, Inc., an emerging leader in high-performance optical subsystems and components for the telecommunications industry, today announced the appointment of Dr. Daniel C. Stanzione, retired chief operating officer of Lucent Technologies Inc., to its board of directors. "I have been impressed with Continuum's team, technology and strategy. They are utilizing their unique core technologies to develop optical subsystems that will overcome many of the performance and cost limitations that have slowed the adoption rate of many other optical products," said Dr. Stanzione. "Throughout its over four years of operating history Continuum has demonstrated the ability to generate revenues in a variety of markets. I look forward to working with the Continuum team as they bring their optical products to a recovering telecommunications market. I am sure they will be successful." Prior to his role as COO at Lucent Technologies where he had oversight responsibility of technology, product architecture and manufacturing decisions, Stanzione was the president of Bell Laboratories, responsible for all R&D within Lucent from 1995 to 1999. Stanzione began his career at Bell Labs in 1972. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Stanzione was the president of business units within AT&T that had global responsibility for switching, transmission and large software system products for use within networks around the world. He became part of the new Lucent Technologies as part of the AT&T restructuring in 1996, and was president of Lucent's Network Systems unit during Lucent's early years. Continuum Photonics Inc.
