PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Arroyo Video Solutions, Inc., creator of an innovative software infrastructure that empowers operators and service providers to deliver the world of personalized entertainment, today announced the appointment of broadband industry leader Rick DeGabrielle to the position of president and chief executive officer.
DeGabrielle, a 20 year networking veteran with a track record at several highly successful telecommunication companies, joins Arroyo as the company leverages its unique capabilities to introduce new applications in addition to video on demand (VOD), expand its reach, and enter new markets.
"I am thrilled to join a company whose strategy is so clearly resonating with the operators. We are now deployed or in trials with six top operators, including multiple deployments in divisions at Comcast and Time Warner Cable," said DeGabrielle. "Traditional television viewing is rapidly evolving to personalized entertainment, and Arroyo OnDemand is the platform which best enables that exciting evolution."
"Rick is a great addition to Arroyo," said Adam Grosser, general partner at Foundation Capital. "In the last fifteen years, he has held senior management positions with three successful technology companies, helping them move from start-up phase to become major players in their markets. Rick's customer-oriented, outbound focus is the perfect complement to Arroyo's incredibly strong technical team."
Gus Warren, executive director at Time Warner Investments commented, "We're pleased to see Rick join Arroyo. Arroyo is seeing customer momentum as operators appreciate the unique advantages of the company's software-based, network-centric approach to video. Rick's extensive experience in voice/data/video networking, and his background of managing in high-growth environments, will serve the company well."
DeGabrielle's experience spans several successful networking companies including Network Equipment Technologies (NET), Cascade Communications, and Catena Networks. Prior to Arroyo, he was vice president of sales and business development at Catena Networks (acquired by Ciena Corp.), an equipment manufacturer specializing in broadband access solutions for some of the world's largest operators. At Catena, DeGabrielle was instrumental in growing the company from pre-revenue to $100 million annually, prior to the successful acquisition by Ciena for $500 million.
