First telecom operator in India to launch 3G/3.5G services in Delhi with high-speed downlink data access

NEW DELHI -- MTNL is the first Telecom operator in the country to launch 3G/3.5G Services in Delhi with high speed down link data access. 3G/3.5G standards provide data down load speed up to 3.6 Mbps. MTNL 3G/3.5G services also offer features like Video calling, live mobile TV and VOIP etc.

Initially the services were launched in NDMC area in New Delhi with 50 Node-B (BTS). However MTNL has quickly extended 3G coverage to Trans Yamuna, Central Delhi, South Delhi and NCR of Gurgaon with 225 Node-B(BTS). MTNL will very soon include NOIDA, Dwarka, Karolbagh, North-West and other remaining areas.

3G Prepaid Jadoo Service is now added to the bouquet of 3G Services since prepaid is the preferred mode for most customers. MTNL has always endeavored to provide latest services at affordable prices. Keeping with this trend, MTNL has lowered entry level for 3G services significantly. The prepaid customers can now avail of the service at a low entry point of Rs 300/- for a life time connection. To all new customers subscribing to 3G Post Paid/ Prepaid Jadoo Service, MTNL is making a unique promotional offering of a “Jodi” 2G prepaid SIM with video calling facility absolutely free of charge.

3G tariffs have been restructured to suit to the needs of prolific data users. Economical 3G data coupons to meet the individual needs are available in denominations of Rs 99/- upwards. The MTNL cellular data users can now roam in BSNL Network like home network at the same per MB data tariff.

In keeping with trend for higher data usage, MTNL is focusing on the needs of data users extensively. With 3/3.5G services available, MTNL has come up with very attractive bundling scheme for Data Card users. 3.5 G connection bundled with Micromax HSDPA data card at Rs. 3500/-prepaid and monthly 2GB free data download for two months is now available.
