MARTINSRIED/MUNICH, Germany, and RAMSEY, N.J. -- ADVA Optical Networking (German Neuer Markt: ADV), a leading global provider of optical networking solutions announces today a new three year contract from BT Ignite, British Telecommunications' new broadband and internet protocol (IP) data and solutions business, for its Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing optical access platform FSP-II. The FSP-II platform will form an integral part of BT Ignite's new range of Short Haul Data DWDM services known as "MetroWave". Designed for Enterprise and Metropolitan Area Access Networks, the FSP-II will enable BT Ignite to provide high-quality cost-effective services for enterprise Local Area Network (LAN) and Storage Area Network (SAN) applications.

Robin Wiles, Product Marketing Manager, BT Ignite Internet Services, said "MetroWave has been developed in response to customer demand, particularly in the finance sector, for a site connectivity service capable of simultaneously transmitting different transport protocols - such as ESCON, Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet. MetroWave's multi-channel capability means that it will be possible for customers with very high bandwidth requirements to run many services over just one fiber link. The scalable nature of this very high bandwidth service means that BT Ignite will be able to provide customers with more bandwidth on an almost 'on demand' basis."
