AMSTERDAM -- DNA Palvelut Oy, the nationwide Finnish broadband and fixed network operator, today signed a managed services agreement with Nokia Siemens Networks. As part of the agreement, the entire fixed line operations of DNA will be transferred to Nokia Siemens Networks, who will provide a full suite of managed services for optimization, day-to-day operation and maintenance of the network to ensure its future high performance and serviceability.

This contract win for delivering services to DNA’s PSTN network (AXE-, DX- and EWSD- technologies) further strengthens Nokia Siemens Networks’ position as the leading managed services supplier in Finland and in the Nordic countries. The agreement will cover over 250,000 subscribers of DNA’s fixed network for an initial period of three years. As part of the agreement, employees of DNA’s fixed line operations will transfer to Nokia Siemens Networks as of January 1, 2008.

Finland is a highly competitive telecommunications market and operators are facing challenges like declining traffic in fixed-line voice services. With this agreement DNA will be able to improve the efficiency of its network operations and at the same time ensure high network quality. Nokia Siemens Networks was chosen because of its excellent references, multi-vendor capability and know-how in managed services in Finland.

“The highly competitive mobile market and growing challenges in the fixed line business require service providers to look at ways to save costs and improve network efficiency. This agreement will allow us to focus our energies on other strategic areas that will help further enhance customer value,” said Arto Kaikkonen, Managing Director, DNA.

“DNA and Nokia Siemens Networks have been working together for many years in the areas of transmission, broadband and applications. This agreement further strengthens our relationship and showcases of our leadership in managed services,” said Matti Mentula, Head of Services in North East Region, Nokia Siemens Networks.
