HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. -- Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM), a leading global provider of communications solutions and services, announced today that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Bluwan, a provider of carrier-grade multi-gigabit wireless solutions. The two companies will provide carriers with a high-availability, high-capacity triple play wireless solution with equivalent capacity and throughput to fibre-based services. The joint Bluwan-Globecomm solution is capable of delivering 100 megabits to customer premises and can be deployed in regions, which until now, have not been reached by fibre optic broadband networks.

The solution leverages Globecomm’s content acquisition and distribution capabilities along with the company’s ability to provide turnkey communication solutions in challenging environments. Globecomm’s Internet, video and voice services are integrated with Bluwan’s Fibre ThroughThe Air (“FTTA”) platform, which delivers optical fiber-like speeds and capacity to any region requiring rapid, high performance and cost-effective wireless deployments. The FTTA platform is a Point to Multipoint (PTMP) multi-gigabit system that enables carriers to provide tailored bandwidth across a geographically dispersed array of end points.

“In today’s world, the demand for instant Internet, voice and video has been exacerbated by the era of the mobile device,” said Stephen Yablonski, Chief Technology Officer, Globecomm. “Bluwan’s FTTA platform is able to provide both speed and capacity and matches our common goal of allowing carriers to deliver top quality triple-play wireless services to users, wherever they are.”
