SAINT CHARLES, Ill. -- Ligent Photonics, Incorporated today announced the introduction of the LTB3467 optical network terminal (ONT/ONU) G-PON transceiver for 2488.32 Mb/s downstream and 1244.16 Mb/s upstream bidirectional data links. It is designed for FSAN / ITU-T G.984.2 Class B+ service where wide dynamic range, fast response time and low noise are critical. The device operates in the 1310 nm and 1490 nm bands and incorporates an APD/TIA receiver and DFB laser transmitter. Fabricated with a rugged die cast EMI/RFI shielded metal housing and cage assembly, the device is offered in the industry standard 2x10 SFF fiber pigtail package with SC/APC connector. The SFF 8472 Revision 9.3 digital diagnostic monitor feature set monitors the transceiver operating parameters in real time including module temperature, transmitter average burst mode power output, laser burst mode bias current, module voltage and receiver input/RSSI. The device incorporates a power level control feature that can be accessed using the I2C data interface, which permits the oprical power to be adjusted in 3 dB steps over a 6 dB dynamic range.

According to John Salvey, Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing for Ligent, “The LTB3467 G-PON ONU transceiver is ideal for burst-mode subscriber terminal equipment where the power level feature softens the ranging requirement in PON installations that employ widely spaced subscriber terminals.”
