ADC Krone Struts Its Stuff

BERLIN -- ADC KRONE (NASDAQ: ADCT, www.adckrone.com) is set to present its OmniReach™ product portfolio at this year’s FTTH Council Europe conference in Vienna on 25th & 26th January. With the innovative products in its OmniReach portfolio, ADC KRONE meets the demand for efficient and flexible solutions for both fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP) and fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) architectures, necessary, for example, for service providers to deliver triple-play services to a wide variety of end users.

Previously, only a small number of businesses or consumers could receive high bandwidth voice, data, and Internet services directly via fibre optics. However, the situation has changed. Today, fibre optics extend much further into the access network and are used to connect both corporate organisations and individual consumers. Demand for high-speed services such as voice, data and video transmissions is growing and new distribution architectures are required to supply users with the information they require. FTTP systems, based on a passive optical network structure (PON), constitute one option for making high bandwidth available to customers. The signals are routed passively through fibre-optic cabling and a distributor to the end customer without any additional active components – in some cases over a distance of more than 20 kilometres. It is here that the conversion to electrical signals then takes place.

Splitting in the hierarchical network tree structure is carried out in distribution cabinets. ADC KRONE will present its innovative fibre-optic distributor, the ACE 102V, at the FTTH Council Europe conference. This solution offers convenient front access to all integrated components and cables. The distributor is available with a pre-terminated OSP cable. The weatherproof system supports a distribution capacity of up to 216 fibres (or up to 1152 fibres in the largest distributor) and can be fitted with pre-installed splitter modules. Overall, there are eight splitter slots available. Connectors allow the required fibre-optic connections to be cross-connected or “patched”, and make it easier to carry out testing, monitoring and maintenance work. Further advantages of this distributor include ADC KRONE’s flexible supply of fibres, permanent bend radius protection and easy access to the individual cables.

The annual FTTH Council Europe conference is this year entitled “Europe at the Speed of Light”, and the central aim of the event is to promote the development of the market for fibre-optic connections right through to the end customer. Both representatives from the industry and other interested parties will come together to take part in the exclusive conferences.

The FTTH Council Europe comprises 47 leading companies in the broadband industry and works closely with the FTTH Council of North America. ADC KRONE is also an active member of the council, and the company will present its current fibre-optic infrastructure products, and pass on its experience of implementing numerous complex fibre-optic solutions at the event.
