HONG KONG and SEATTLE -- Broadband Network Systems Ltd (BNS Ltd), Asia’s leading Broadband TV solutions provider, and Widevine® Technologies, the largest provider of content security solutions to the video over xDSL and Fiber to Home (FTTH) market, have entered into a competitive reseller agreement for Widevine’s Cypher® suite of security solutions.

Under the agreement, BNS will integrate the industry leading Widevine Cypher security products and implementation services in their tailor made broadband tv solutions for IPTV operators in the Asia Pacific region and also provide first-line sales support.

“A proven content security system is crucial for protecting operators’ revenues,” BNS CEO Jeffrey Soong said. “Widevine, with its long established reputation and references, is a system that Hollywood trusts. This is a key benefit for our telco clients when licensing premium movie content from major studios,” he said.

The Widevine Cypher solution significantly lowers the cost of securing content over video networks while dramatically raising the bar on piracy. Its transparent and persistent encryption guarantees full protection of media throughout the distribution process. This enables new delivery models such as VOD, PVR, NPVR and even Home Video Networks which premium content owners previously have been reluctant to support due to the lack of solid security.

“BNS is unique in terms of their in-depth understanding of the content, technology and strategy of the IPTV business,” said Widevine President and CEO Mr. Brian Baker. “This, combined with their knowledge of the Asia-Pacific marketplace and solid relationships with telcos in the region, will increase Widevine’s exposure and we look forward to a successful collaboration between our companies.”
