DUBLIN, Calif., September 7, 2000 -- Blaze Network Products Inc., an optical networking pioneer, today announced the Afterburner(tm) 10-Gigabit Ethernet transceiver product line, which is optimized for local-area and access networks. By combining optoelectronic technology, coarse wave-division multiplexing (CWDM) and innovative manufacturing techniques, Blaze has developed a 10-gigabit transceiver that will be available to OEM switch manufacturers for less than $200 each in volume quantities.

Kirk Bovill, director of product marketing for Blaze, "We expect to supply the optical industry's lowest-priced products to meet the demand. We'll give OEM manufacturers maximum port density while minimizing the cost of fiberoptic cabling for IT managers, which we believe will accelerate market acceptance of 10 Gb optical ports for short-distance networks."
