BitBlitz Announces 50 Gbit/s Transceiver

MILPITAS, Calif. -- BitBlitz Communications, Inc. today announced the industry's highest-performance transceiver chip. The patent-pending, CMOS device transfers data at 3.125 Gbps, and contains eight, full-duplex channels for an aggregate bandwidth of 50 Gbps.

The nPower BBT3800 allows engineers to design serial backplanes with twice the performance of other transceivers. The device is capable of even greater performance gains because it is built from patent-pending technology that uses 1/3 the power of other transceivers. This low-power feature (200 mW per channel) allows multiple BBT3800 chips to work in parallel. As an example, twenty BBT3800 chips could be used in parallel to design a serial backplane operating at a bandwidth of 1000 Gbps (i.e., one terabit).
