HANOVER, Germany and SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Atrica, the Carrier Ethernet pioneer, today announced that German Regional Carrier htp has selected Atrica’s proven Carrier-class Optical Ethernet Systems for its next-generation infrastructure. Atrica’s industry-leading Carrier Ethernet solutions will enable htp to deliver an expanded range of advanced broadband services to its business and residential customers, with guaranteed, end-to-end service level agreements (SLAs) and 50 ms resiliency. Services will include blazing-speed Internet access, LAN to LAN, and DSL backhaul. Future applications will include an extensive offering of Triple Play services for business and residential customers. This agreement illustrates the increasing demand in Central and Eastern Europe for the benefits of Carrier Ethernet technology, and Atrica’s strengthening market leadership in the region.

One of Germany’s largest Regional Carriers, htp serves the greater Hannover area, home to this week’s CeBIT 2005 exhibition. In addition to the Carrier-class attributes that Atrica’s Optical Ethernet Systems provide, htp was impressed with the high scalability of the system, and the comprehensive functionality and point-and-click centralized service provisioning and management capabilities of ASPEN™, Atrica’s Service Platform for Ethernet Networks. Using a multi-layered modular architecture, ASPEN was built to support large, dynamic, carrier-class networks. With a focus on delivering enhanced management capabilities for rapid service provisioning, comprehensive network, performance and fault management, and seamless integration with existing applications, ASPEN is based on common telecom network management standards. ASPEN’s open Applications Programming Interfaces (APIs) bring fast and flexible integration with service providers’ existing OSS applications, thus ensuring that all network elements are properly managed and controlled.

“Deploying Atrica’s Optical Ethernet Systems will allow us to leverage a single, universal transport network to deliver a wide range of new, advanced broadband services to our business and residential customers,” said Achim Garbe, htp project manager. “Atrica’s Carrier-class capabilities and the ease of management they offer will allow us to compete more effectively in our target markets.”

Makedonski Telekomunikacii selected Atrica’s Carrier Ethernet platforms as its first installation considering their ability to deliver guaranteed, end-to-end SLAs, Quality of Service (QoS), and 50 ms network-wide resiliency. When first considering the expansion of its enterprise business, Makedonski Telekomunikacii recognized that, in order to support the increasingly sophisticated communications services needs of its enterprise customers, it needed an infrastructure capable of delivering Carrier-class features and functionality at a competitive price point. Makedonski Telekomunikacii prepared and issued an RFQ based on the standards and specifications adopted by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), a non-profit organization created to accelerate the adoption of Ethernet in metro networks worldwide. In addition to being compliant with the standards and specifications of the MEF, Atrica’s Optical Ethernet Systems allow the operator to dramatically reduce its capital and operational expenditures.
