Allot Communications has introduced a broadband bandwidth control device that it calls "the industry's most powerful network management solution." Allot says the new traffic management box, known as the NetEnforcer AC-2500, provides full Layer 1-7 control and can support data throughput rates of up to 5 Gigabits per second (Gbps). The platform also includes enhanced software, enhanced interfaces and new features to help network operators manage subscriber-level and application-level traffic for voice over IP (VoIP), peer-to-peer (P2P), video and other services.
The NetEnforcer AC-2500 represents an upgrade from Allot's AC-1000 product series, which came out in June 2003. The AC-1000 series, now deployed by more than 200 service providers and large enterprises, supports throughput rates of up to 2.5 Gbps. Allot CEO P.G. Narayanan said he expects the new AC-2500 to appeal to many larger cable operators.
