ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Pre-IPO company American Fiber Systems, a leader in metropolitan fiber optic networks and optical gigabit Ethernet IP transport, today announced that Michael D'Angelo has joined the company as Vice President, Sales & Marketing.

D'Angelo brings a fifteen plus year track record of success in the telecommunications market. His experience spans companies in all stages of development where his decisive, focused management style has helped organizations improve revenue and profitability, navigate through changing market environments and position themselves for long-term success.

"Mike has an exceptional reputation of accelerating growth in telecom businesses while building sales and marketing capabilities that distinguish themselves in tough competitive environments," said Dave Rusin, President and Chief Executive Officer of AFS. " He has a firm grasp of what it takes to expand our business and has an impressive vision of how IP broadband networks will shape communications in the years to come. Mike's industry experience, technical skills and proven leadership will provide AFS with the right mix of vision, leadership and performance to reach its goals."

"The expansion potential of AFS is simply superb given its marquee customer base and dense fiber optic metropolitan networks," said D'Angelo. "Under Dave Rusin's leadership, AFS has positioned itself well to take advantage of unprecedented growth opportunities in the telecom market. The company has also established a remarkable reputation for on-time delivery performance with a history of zero service affecting outages. I look forward to working with AFS's dedicated employees in growing revenues and delivering exceptional value to customers while providing proper shareholder returns."
