ADC Partners Danish Research Center

ADC (Nasdaq: ADCT;www.adc.com), a leading global supplier of fiber optics, networkequipment, software and integration services for broadband, multiservicenetworks, today announced the signing of a research and developmentco-operation agreement with Photonics Research Center COM in Denmark.Under the agreement, ADC will gain access to the research anddevelopment facilities at Research Center COM, which are located closeto ADC’s new Danish facilities in Copenhagen. A number of jointactivities will be initiated to facilitate the development of advancedphotonics technology for next generation optical networks. Also underthe agreement, ADC will place PECVD (plasma enhanced chemical vapordeposition) equipment at Research Center COM for use by ADC and ResearchCenter COM.

Further it recognizes and supports the strong researchenvironment at Research Center COM.”

Since ADC’s acquisition in May 2000 of IBSEN Micro Structures A/S, nowknown as ADC Denmark, the company has more than tripled the number ofengineers at its Copenhagen facility. ADC now has 33 Master’s of Scienceand 14 Ph.D.s working in Denmark.

The first product to come out of ADC’s integrated optics activities inDenmark will be a multichannel DWDM monitor to be launched in 2001.Other integrated optical DWDM components are in development and areexpected to be released in the future, furthering ADC’s strongtechnology base in diffractive optics and semiconductor manufacturingprocesses.
