FREMONT, Calif. -- Accordion Networks today announced OnsitePOP, a new category of broadband multi-services activation platform that integrates the functionality of a number of discrete devices such as a Layer 3+ switch, edge router, QoS engines and IP service switch. The platform enables service providers to deliver differentiated, value-added business-class IP/application services, as well as a full-suite of legacy services from the network edge. By leveraging Accordion Networks' OnsitePOP platform, service providers can now rapidly activate, personalize and manage business-class broadband services to subscribers from a business campus point-of-presence (POP), building POP or Metro POP, enabling them to become New-World Service Providers. The OnsitePOP platform enables the delivery of customized business-class broadband services, including toll-quality voice-over-broadband, broadband access for data/video and advanced IP/application services, via a unified service portal.

"Many vendors in the market are providing technology, but it's what you do with the technology that really adds value. Accordion Networks is heading in the right direction by moving applications and services to the edge of the network where they can be easily activated, personalized and managed," said Curt Wheeling, chief technology officer, Advanced TelCom Group, Inc., an Integrated Communications Provider (ICP) located in Santa Rosa, Calif.
