When some companies change their name, it takes years for customers, partners and staff to adopt the new moniker. The telecom equipment vendor known for the past six years or so as Nokia Siemens Networks, or NSN, shouldn't have that problem.
The vendor announced early Wednesday that, as previously announced, Nokia Corp. has taken full control, heralding a change of name to Nokia Solutions and Networks, which will be known simply as NSN. (See Nokia to Take Full Control of NSN and Why Is NSN Only Worth $4.4B?).
Otherwise, noted NSN in its official re-badging statement, it's "business as usual." That means a continued focus on mobile broadband, customer experience management (CEM) and professional services. It also means an ongoing struggle to achieve financial stability, though that's a battle NSN is showing signs of winning. (See NSN: The Recovery Looks Real.)
So NSN remains as NSN, though that abbreviation is now more formal. But what might the vendor have been called? Nokia's Shrinking Networks might have been one (ridiculous) option, given that the vendor is getting smaller and smaller as it sells what it regards as non-core operations, such as its optical networking business. (See Euronews: Coriant Goes Solo.)
Other suggestions, ridiculous or otherwise, are most welcome on the message boards below.
