Podcast: AT&T's U-verse U-Turn

AT&T lost video and broadband subscribers during its second quarter, but the telco still reported revenue and profit forecasts in line with Wall Street's expectations. Indeed, the carrier is making truckloads of money every quarter, but its ability to pinpoint where the culture is going is not as sharp as its competitors.

In this quick, five-minute podcast, Light Reading's Alan Breznick talks about what AT&T announced and why it's not showing more growth in video and broadband at a time when there is so much activity and interest in both areas.

AT&T U-Verse customers no longer getting ANY type of customer support
Here is the hard evidence:
  • The 800 288-2020 phone number doesn't get you to a live person who can address your concertns
  • Private messaging on the AT&T Community Forum  https://forums.att.com/ has been eliminated. 
  • My posts there to complain about channel blackouts (NFL Network, NFL Redzone, CBS, CBS Sports, KRON 4, etc were deleted without notice or explanation.
  • Locast Interactive app on U-Verse TV doesn't work and no one I've reported this to has fixed it or even had the courtesy to get back to me.
  • AT&T local tech manager that used to provide great service doesn't return voice messages, texts, or emails.
  • AT&T Office of the President rep, who I've worked with since 2007 also doesn't return voice messages or emails.
  • AT&T ignores complaints I filed with local and federal government agencies

-->There is no alternative but to switch providers when my U-Verse contract expires.  As Phil Harvey wrote in a 7/30/19 comment:

"It's frustrating what happened with U-verse TV -- AT&T does seem to be slowly winding it down and giving people as many reasons to leave as they can."
