OTTAWA -- Tropic Networks Inc. and Broadbus Technologies Inc. have successfully completed interoperability testing between the Tropic Networks TRX-24000(TM) DWDM Transport Platform Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and the Broadbus B-1TM VOD server. The testing was conducted in the Broadbus Laboratory, where an end-to-end network is emulated from the master head-end, HFC network to the set-top box at the customer premises. Testing involved the initiating, playing, pausing, forwarding, rewinding and termination of VOD sessions.

"The successful completion of this test is a milestone in the evolution of VOD services," said Shing K. Lee, Vice President of Research and Development, Tropic Networks. "The TRX-24000 is a high capacity, high performance DWDM Transport Platform able to seamlessly transmit thousands of video streams per DWDM fiber pair on a 10 Gigabit Ethernet Channel. With this test we have demonstrated that this technology is ready to go into service provider networks and that we are committed to providing best-in-breed VOD solutions."
