RESTON, Va. -- Transaction Network Services, Inc., one of the leading providers of fast, reliable data communications services for transaction-oriented applications, recently launched a wholly owned subsidiary, Transaction Network Services Canada Corp. Transaction Network Services is not a new name to the Canadian financial services industry. Since 1996, Transaction Network Services has been providing network technology and support services for a dial access transaction network used by many of Canada's largest POS and ATM transaction processors. "For years, Transaction Network Services has been the technology behind Canadian transaction networks by providing data messaging solutions to support the acquiring, processing and retail industries," says Jack McDonnell, chairman and chief executive officer of Transaction Network Services. "We are extremely pleased to offer our suite of POS services directly to Canadian processors and introduce them to our faster, better, cheaper way of conducting business." Paul Mercer will lead Transaction Network Services' Canadian operations as the director of business development. Mercer's primary responsibility is to launch and manage Transaction Network Services' Canadian subsidiary. He will focus on maintaining and growing Transaction Network Services' existing client base in Canada, as well as search for new opportunities for other Transaction Network Services solutions.
