CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Sycamore Networks (NASDAQ: SCMR), a leader in intelligent optical networking, today announced a new initiative that will extend Ethernet connectivity across all segments of the intelligent optical network. Based on carrier-class EtherOptic technologies, Sycamore's expanded solution set for the SN 10000 high capacity transport platform and SN 3000 optical access switch will enable service providers to quickly deploy Gigabit Ethernet services from any point to any point in their network. By introducing carrier-class Ethernet solutions, Sycamore's customers will be able to provide an expanded service suite to their existing customers as well as target new market segments that are heavily invested in LAN-based technologies to increase their revenue opportunities.

"Sycamore Networks has again demonstrated they understand the evolution of service requirements for Intelligent Optical Networking," said Christopher Nicoll, Vice President, Telecom Infrastructure at Current Analysis. "With the introduction of their EtherOptic solutions, Sycamore can provide the enabling infrastructure for delivering multi-services over the optical network."
