SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- SpectraSwitch, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of solid-state optical components, announced today the appointment of Lindsay Austin to the position of President and CEO. Mr. Austin will be responsible for the overall strategic direction and day-to-day management of SpectraSwitch. He will lead the company in its next phases of commercial development. Mr. Austin replaces SpectraSwitch’s founder, Nick Lawrence, who will assume the position of vice president business development.Austin comes to SpectraSwitch with over 30 year of experience in the laser and optics industry. Immediately prior to joining SpectraSwitch, Austin was vice president and general manager of JDS Uniphase’s Commercial Lasers Division. Previous positions have included director business unit and director new product development at Coherent, Inc. and director of US operations at Lambda Physik, Inc.

In announcing the appointment, Nick Lawrence stated that "Lindsay's strong business instincts, profound understanding of optics technology, and significant international experience make him ideally suited to spearhead SpectraSwitch's drive to become a leader in the rapidly growing field of optical networking.”
