Swisscom to take over unified communications specialist webcall

BERN, Switzerland -- Swisscom is to take over the company webcall GmbH headquartered in Dübendorf, including the 12 employees, thus strengthening its position in the area of Microsoft-based unified communications solutions (UC). The formal deal is subject to the approval of the Federal Competition Commission before the end of June 2008. The parties have agreed not to disclose details of the purchase price.

As a leading provider of Microsoft-based UC solutions, webcall GmbH has employees specialised in the future-oriented enterprise communications market. The company generated revenue of around CHF 1.7 million in 2007 and employs 12 people in Dübendorf.

Strengthened position in the area of enterprise communicationsThe takeover of webcall fits in well with Swisscom's strategy. Thanks to the additional know-how and expertise, Swisscom will be able to cater even better to customers' enterprise communication requirements. One of the ways in which Swisscom distinguishes itself in this area is by involving sociologists who analyse employees' communication behaviour in companies. The findings from these studies coupled with professional support in the rollout of unified communications solutions contribute to increased productivity in business communication.
