SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Silicon & Software Systems (S3), a leading supplier of network processor solutions, today announced ATM support for the Intel® IXDP2401/2801 advanced development platforms based on the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) specification. S3's ATM solution, integrated with either the new single processor Intel IXDP2401/2801 platforms or the existing dual processor Intel IXDP2400/2800 platforms, is delivered with documented and supported source code and fully tested binary code.

Targeted at equipment manufacturers serving the edge and access market segments (including DSLAM, Multi-service Switch and 3G Wireless), S3's ATM solution enables OEMs to build on the open and modular AdvancedTCA standard, allowing rapid development and deployment of systems requiring various combinations of AAL5, IPoA, AAL2 and ingress/egress TM4.1 traffic management.

"We are pleased that members of the Intel® Communications Alliance, like S3, have chosen to support our newest development platforms that are ideal for customers developing access and edge applications with our Intel IXP2400 and IXP2800," said Doug Davis, General Manager, Intel Network Processor Division. "The S3 software support for our network processors in areas such as ATM, IP, QoS and Content Processing reaffirms our belief that OEMs can utilize time to market advantage from independent software vendors."
