OSDL launches Data Center Linux Working Group with financial services initiative and delivers Carrier-Grade Linux Architecture spec v1.0

SAN FRANCISCO -- LINUXWORLD -- Open Source Development Lab (OSDL), together with industry leaders and open source community members, today announced the formation of the Data Center Linux (DCL) Working Group with the launch of a financial services initiative and two deliverables for Data Center Linux. In addition, building on the momentum from its January 2002 formation, OSDL’s Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) Working Group achieved major milestones with the availability of the Carrier Grade Linux Requirements Definition V1.0 and Carrier Grade Linux Architecture Specification V1.0, and announced new member Force Computers. These achievements will drive delivery of more open source products for business."The formation of the OSDL Data Center Linux Working Group is a significant step in OSDL's ability to guide and develop Linux technology that is open and meets the requirements of data center platforms," said Ross Mauri, president of OSDL, and vice president, eServer Development, IBM.
