OTTAWA -- Optiwave Corporation has greatly expanded the capabilities of its innovative and rapidly evolving OptiSystem software tool for the design and simulation of optical communication system components and modules. Major additions have incorporated advancements in technology and included new component categories. Some of the most exciting new features are:

  • Greatly expanded Component Library with nearly 300 components, including new Dynamic models for EDFA and Raman amplifiers, and an interface with SPICE type tools;

  • Over 45 new application and validation reports;

  • Powerful automation through Virtual Basic scripting allows users to manipulate and control OptiSystem calculations, layout creation, and post processing;

  • Bill-of-Materials cost analysis module provides a convenient cost analysis to compare cost impact of parameter trade-offs.

The award winning OptiSystem enables users to plan, test, and simulate almost every type of optical link in the physical layer across the broad spectrum of optical networks. Algorithms are included for dispersion map design, bit error rate, and system penalty estimations and link budget calculations. Visual analysis and scenarios are second to none. Easy integration with other Optiwave products, industry leading electronic design automation software, and Matlab all contribute to OptiSystem speeding products to market and reducing the investment payback period.

“OptiSystem 3.0 has been one of Optiwave’s most ambitious product upgrades.” According to CEO Jan Jakubczyk, “The vision of evolution we have for OptiSystem will continue to provide competitive advantage for several generations of photonic component and system design automation software.”
