P&T Luxembourg invests €75M to extend its international optical fiber broadband network

luxemourg -- Responding to major changes in the telecommunications industry as well as changing customer needs, P&TLuxembourg announced today the extension of its wholly owned international broadband network TERALINK.

TERALINK connects P&T’s national fiber network to the most renowned European telecommunication centers, ensuring the company can meet demands for IP-connectivity, housing, hosting and other bandwidth-intensive applications.

Spanning more than 4,000 km and including 13 Points of Presence (PoP) in 6 EU countries, TERALINK connects Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris, Frankfurt and Strasbourg with Luxembourg. Each city is connected by redundant fiber routes provided by different suppliers thus guaranteeing full supplier redundancy.

Relying on state-of-the-art DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexing) technology with ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexers) equipment, TERALINK offers a capacity up to 88 x 40Gbit/s (3,5 Terabit/s). P&TLuxembourg is among the very first carriers in Europe implementing a network of this size with this newest technology.

P&T’s datacenters are managed by its subsidiary eBRC and are the largest in Luxembourg. They offer a total capacity of 6,500 m2 IT rooms with highly secured equipments, making Luxembourg a unique and reliable place to be for worldwide operating ICT companies, carriers and corporate customers.

The total investment reaches 75 mio €.
