SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Occam Networks Inc. (OTCBB: OCCM), a supplier of innovative Ethernet- and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies worldwide, today announced that Tennessee-based Millington Telephone has selected the Occam BLC 6000 System to upgrade and expand its existing access network to deliver voice over IP (VoIP) and high-speed data over DSL. The company also plans to deliver IP video services in the future.

"We love the robust design of the BLC," said Butch Maples, CO manager and engineer for Millington. "It provides us with maximum versatility since it can be copper or fiber fed, and it fits into our network easily. With Ethernet Protection Switching we get the level of reliability our subscribers expect from a network that is more cost-efficient, more flexible and easier to operate. We are true believers in the advantages of IP and Ethernet technology."

Millington's goal is to position the company for the future with an all IP and Ethernet service delivery platform. It has been using point-to-point Ethernet and IP in its fiber networks and recognizes the value of the technologies in the telecommunications environment. Using the BLC 6000 the company is incorporating an Ethernet ring in addition to its OC 48 SONET ring to deliver the necessary bandwidth for new services such as VoIP, DSL and IP video at an affordable price.

"Of all the vendors we researched only Occam could deliver what we asked for -- most others could only promise to deliver the functionality we wanted at some future date," Maples continued. "We plan to use the Occam BLC for the foreseeable future."

Millington is upgrading its entire existing access network and expanding it to with shorter loops to provide better service and higher quality services to it subscriber base over a two-year period. The independent operating company (IOC) has installed the BLC 6000 at two sites, service has been turned up and the BLC is delivering VoIP and DSL to a full complement of subscribers. Millington expects to have a total of nine sites operational by the end of 2005.
