AFL Telecommunications announces the release of two new fusion splicers
November 1, 2004
FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- AFL Telecommunications announces the release of two new fusion splicers, designed to increase productivity and provide additional flexibility.
The FSM-17S single-fiber fusion splicer establishes a new standard for fixed v-groove fusion splicers. With two versions available to select from, improvements for both include a 35-second tube heater, dual direction monitor and longer battery life. The real time arc calibration feature makes field maintenance easier. One version of the FSM-17S includes a fiber holder system, making the splicing process extremely simple for inexperienced technicians.
The FSM-17S is well-suited for FTTx applications and both models attach to the newly redesigned ASW-02 workstation, simplifying field portability.
The FSM-50R 12-fiber mass fusion splicer offers numerous improvements including a new "auto load" feature providing fast and easy placement of fiber holders into the splicers. In addition, the tube heater is greatly improved to shrink a 12-fiber splicer protection sleeve in approximately 45 seconds. Other enhancements include larger capacity batteries, dual direction monitor, and real time arc calibration. The FSM-50R attaches to AFL's newly designed ASW-02 aerial workstation, making field portability a breeze.
