S. PLAINFIELD, N.J. -- Multiplex, Inc., the South Plainfield, New Jersey-based, vertically integrated manufacturer of high-end opto-electronic components and subsystems, has announced the introduction of a 10 gigabits-per-second (Gb/s) tunable transponder.Multiplex’s tunable transponder incorporates its MTRX192L (the world’s only 10Gb/s photoreceiver with an integrated limiting amplifier) and MTX-TEML (electronically tuned, 16-channel tunable transmitter) into a compact package that measures only 2” x 3” x 0.59”. The pinout is small-form-factor MSA (Multi Source Agreement), which is a 200-pin Berg connector. Performance is outstanding compared to other transponders currently available on the market, and it is even more impressive considering Multiplex’s package is several times smaller than that of most of its competitors.

“The performance of Multiplex’s tunable transponder is truly amazing,” said Dr. Won T. Tsang, President and CEO. “The fact that we were able to bring this product to market in only six months is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. This product speaks volumes of the vast technological capabilities that helped place Multiplex at the forefront of the opto-electronics industry.”
