Telkom becomes the first operator in South Africa to launch WiMax products

PRETORIA, South Africa -- Telkom continues to extend value to its customers by becoming the first operator inSouth Africa to commercially launch products based on WiMAX.Do Broadband Wireless, Telkom’s WiMAX product suite, will be targeted at customerswho do not have access to DSL, thereby complimenting Telkom’s existing broadbandfootprint by providing high speed Internet access to more people. Later phases of theWiMAX service offerings will include the voice enabled services to the same market.

“Telkom’s goal is to increase customer satisfaction and bring valuable broadbandofferings to the market place,” says Godfrey Ntoele, Telkom (Acting) Chief Sales andMarketing Officer.

Ntoele said the WiMAX product offerings compliment the recently launched DoBroadband service offering by expanding the company’s broadband footprint.

“Customers who apply for DSL will be offered Do Broadband Wireless if they reside inan area which is not DSL enabled and that falls within the coverage area of a WiMaxbase station,’ says Ntoele.
