In summary
In summary...
  • 5G is coming.. expect a number of networks offering 5G service in 2020
  • 5G will work with 4G LTE and most solutions will combine both together to offer a seamless service
  • 5G will offer higher peak bitrates, larger capacity in high traffic area and reduced latency
  • 4G LTE is still a great system and so you don't need to wait for 5G before upgrading your phones... but maybe the phone after your next one will support 5G
  • 5G radio is different to LTE radio and so no phone you own today will support 5G mobile... it will not be a simple software update problem.
  • Don't confuse 5G mobile with devices that support Wi-Fi in the 5 GHz band.
