MidStream Launches New Video Server
MidStream Technologies expands its product line with the V2 Video Server, intergating PC platforms with its X2 Streaming board

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- MidStream Technologies,™ a leading developer of broadcast quality Video on Demand (VoD) and Network Digital Video Recording (nDVR) server and storage solutions announces the general availability of the V2 Video Server. MidStream sets the industry standard in breadth and depth of VOD solutions with flexible media cluster configurations with the V1, V10, and now the V2 Video Server.
The V2 substantially reduces the cost of video streaming by integrating cost effective, commercially available PC platforms and MidStream’s X2 Streaming board. The X2 is a PCI-X board running MidStream’s embedded streaming server technology providing high performance and next generation media delivery features. System operators may choose a commercially available PC platform with MidStream’s X2 streaming engine. The V2 Video Server provides operators with the reliability of hardware, the flexibility of software, and the cost reduction effects of Moore’s Law.
The V2 features and performance include:
1,000 simultaneous MPEG-2 streams (3.75Mbps) from a 2 RU PC platform, delivered over gigabit Ethernet
Deployment ready for Windows® Media 9 and MPEG-4 stream delivery
Deliver content encoded at any bit rate
Edge cache or centralized configurations
Sophisticated, scalable tiered storage solutions
Separate management and content ingest Ethernet ports
Compatibility with all other MidStream video servers and clusters

Midstream will continue to sell and support the MVS-2000, V1, and V10 platforms, along with the X2 Streaming Board.
