SEOUL, Korea -- Metalink Ltd. (Nasdaq: MTLK), a global provider and developer of high performance wireline and wireless broadband communication silicon solutions, today announced that Mr. Jinwook (Kenneth) Song has been appointed the Country Manager of Metalink in Korea.

"In July 2003, Metalink incorporated it's wholly owned Korean subsidiary in order to be physically closer to high-growth broadband markets and to provide our customers with rapid technical support. At the same time, a number of leading Korean OEMs using Metalink chipsets have won tenders for leading operators in Korea and other Asia-Pacific countries," said Mr. Ronen Avron, Metalink's Vice President of World Wide Sales. "Since then we have shipped about half a million VDSL ports to the world's densest broadband country, and we continue to experience growth in shipment and market share as we introduce long reach Total-VDSL(TM) technology. Mr. Song's rich experience in the Korean broadband market will be invaluable to Metalink as we continue to strengthen our relationships with our customers and increase our customer base and product portfolio shipped into Korea."

Mr. Song has over 15 years experience in the broadband and semiconductor industry, and prior to joining Metalink, he was the Korean country manager for GlobespanVirata. He previously held management positions in companies such as Conexant Systems, Motorola Electronics & Communication Inc., and Philips.

"My decision to join Metalink and lead the company's operations in Korea was based on their ability to penetrate the Korean broadband market in such a short time and the fascinating roadmap of new products targeted for the broadband home," said Mr. Song. "Metalink has demonstrated unique success in its ability to rapidly shift the broadband market from legacy broadband technologies to the very latest broadband technologies. Metalink's new MIMO based WLANPlus(TM), designed to comply with the emerging 802.11n standard, enabling wireless video home networking at over 200 Mbps combined with its upcoming wire-speed broadband residential gateway products are exciting. I am confident that the combination of Metalink's best performing VDSL products, cutting edge WLAN products and Next-Generation- Residential-Gateway products is a winning combination addressing strong demand by the Korean broadband industry, for domestic deployment as well as for export."
