LONDON -- Marconi Corporation plc (London: MONI and NASDAQ: MRCIY) today announced that it has been chosen by NetCologne to supply its Access Hub, a Multi Service Access Node (MSAN). NetCologne, one of the most successful German city-carriers, will use Marconi’s MSAN technology to collapse layers in its access network. This will allow NetCologne to make a seamless transition to an IP (Internet Protocol) based network providing customers with the latest telephony and broadband services, whilst at the same time reducing operating costs.

The Marconi Access Hub will enable NetCologne to serve both residential and business customers through one platform. Initially the company will offer telephone and broadband services for residential customers and the latest G.SHDSL (Single-pair High Speed Digital Subscriber Line) services for business customers. This will provide NetCologne with the opportunity to grow revenues by expanding its business customer base whilst, significantly reducing operating costs and providing customers with greater network productivity and efficiency.
