STOCKHOLM -- Lumentis AB delivers the Optical Transport Network solution as part of the nation-wide regional network implementation, which is now performed by Teracom. The broadband traffic is transported over the xWDM equipment supplied by Lumentis, which increases and distributes the capacity in the fiber through wavelength division multiplexing. With start of delivery already in June the rollout will continue in coming months for the first four regions. The contract was won in cooperation with the system integrator Ementor and in tough competition with other large established suppliers within the segment.

The selection of Lumentis solution shows again the importance of choosing a platform that includes the full range of functionalities from cost-effective CWDM to high capacity DWDM links and advanced all-optical cross connects. This flexible platform is used to deliver broadband services with very low initial cost in combination with high flexibility and scalability in terms of capacity and network growth.

Within the Lumentis network solution all traffic types can be carried, from 100Mb/s up to 10Gb/s, where each connection can be optimized from cost and functionality perspective without having the limitations that are imposed by stand-alone CWDM- and DWDM-systems.

”xWDM is an important part of the network for Teracom to offer competitive solutions, both technical as well as economically, to the Municipals and County Councils in their effort to establish the infrastructure for delivery of broadband services in Sweden.” says Tommy Svensk at Teracom.

”The Broadband team at Teracom did a thorough study and evaluation of the different technologies available, selecting a solution which gives out-standing network economy in combination with excellent flexibility. We are pleased to deliver a solution that cost-effectively meets the requirements of different network sizes and capacities, which are typical in the regional networks of today and in the future. It is a also great advantage for Lumentis to cooperate closely and successfully with a leading System Integrator such as Ementor in this Teracom-contract”, said Pär Johanson, Director Global Sales and Marketing at Lumentis.
