Juniper Networks announces strategic relationship with Tsinghua University

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced a strategic relationship with Tsinghua University, China's leading science and engineering educational institution. Juniper Networks will provide funding, equipment and support, which will enable Tsinghua to build a world-class research and development (R&D) team and develop course curriculum. Juniper Networks will leverage Tsinghua's extensive R&D resources with access to top scholars and professors for conducting research on Juniper-sponsored projects.

'Tsinghua University is a highly regarded source of engineering talent in China's vibrant IT community, and we're extremely excited about our relationship,' said Scott Kriens, chairman and CEO, Juniper Networks. 'This collaboration is another example of our continued focus on innovation in every dimension to deliver secure and assured networking communications to customers worldwide.'

'Our relationship with Juniper Networks is deep and rewarding,' said Gong Ke, vice president of Tsinghua University. 'The support we are receiving will help to build a long-standing relationship with clear benefit to both organizations, in addition to enriching the greater research community in China.'

Juniper Networks will provide grants for three research projects, which will be submitted by either party and mutually approved. The company will also donate security solutions and routing platforms valued at over $4 million (USD) to equip a world-class research lab at Tsinghua University. Senior staff from Juniper Networks will also give lectures on industry trends and technological developments.
