SAN JOSE, Calif. -- iolon, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of tunable optical devices, announced today that shipments of Apollo-L, the industry’s first high power, widely tunable L-band external cavity laser, began to Innovance Networks last July under a long term, multi-million dollar contract. iolon’s ability to deliver both high power C-band and L-band widely tunable lasers provides a significant increase in spectral coverage allowing a dramatic increase in channel count and network capacity. In addition, the full-band tunability of iolon’s lasers facilitates real-time provisioning, enabling intelligent, dynamic, flexible, and cost-effective network architectures. “Tunable lasers eliminate the complexity associated with wavelength management in today’s networks and are an essential ingredient in allowing service providers to move beyond static point-to-point WDM systems towards agile, transparent networks,” said Peter Allen, President & CEO of Innovance Networks. “Tunability enables dynamic, build-to-order, core networks offering faster service turn-up, increased capital efficiency, and significantly lower operating costs. iolon’s world leading, full-band tunable lasers make them a key partner in delivering Innovance Networks’ next-generation architecture."Iolon Inc.
