Inphi intros family of D flip-flop integrated circuits, providing precise signal retiming to enhance optical system design and performance

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Inphi Corporation, a privately held electro-optical components company, today announced the introduction of its D flip-flop family of high-speed logic circuits operating at data rates ranging from 13 to 50 gigabits per second (Gbps). These devices are designed for applications requiring precise timing of digital signals, such as SONET OC-192 long haul and ultra long haul optical transport systems and OC-768 test and measurement applications.Available in both positive and negative power supply versions, the new circuits can be easily integrated into existing and next-generation networking and instrumentation equipment. Each circuit is designed specifically to provide the optimum combination of high performance and low power dissipation. For example, Inphi's 50 Gbps D flip-flop devices typically consume 510 milliwatts of power, which is up to 66% less than competitive products."Inphi's comprehensive family of D flip-flop circuits enable more efficient transponder designs that run extremely fast but burn very little power," said Gary Franzosa, director of marketing at Inphi. "These products will allow equipment manufacturers to significantly improve system performance in terms of rise time and jitter to ensure that the input and output signals are clean and the integrity of the data is preserved."For next-generation optical transport applications, the 43700/01DF and 47700/01DF support data rates of 43 and 47 Gbps, respectively. With typical rise and fall times of 8 picoseconds, jitter of less than 1.2 picoseconds rms, and differential output signal swings greater than 1.2 volts, these devices overcome the performance limitations of existing multiplexers in OC-768 transponders and linecards. As a result, OEMs can deliver superior components with higher yields, thereby increasing product margins and reducing time to market. Inphi Corp.
