$15M from Dansk Kapitalanlæg Aktieselskab and others lures Norwegian playwright out of retirement

COPENHAGEN -- Ibsen Photonics today announcedtheir management buy-out from ADC Telecommunications. Ibsenmanufactures Phase Masks and D-MON DWDM channel powermonitors used in optical networks and was previously acquiredby ADC in May 2000. As part of the buy-out agreement, IbsenPhotonics will receive USD 15 million in funding, mainly fromleading European venture capital and private equity fund 3i,as well as the leading Danish venture capital provider DanskKapitalanlæg Aktieselskab."It is with great pleasure that today we can announce to ourcustomers and our employees that we have established IbsenPhotonics with the backing of first class investors, and thatwe have taken over all the relevant assets from ADC Denmark,"says Torben Jacobsen, President and CEO of Ibsen Photonics."We have clearly benefited from being part of the ADCorganization, and we have already identified a number ofstrategic opportunities for co-operation."Ibsen Photonics is already today a leading manufacturer ofholographic Phase masks a strategic tool for manufacturersof Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM)telecommunication components like fiber Bragg gratings, DFBlasers and integrated optics. Ibsen Photonics expertise in diffractive gratings is extendedto DWDM modules by using Ibsen gratings to separate individualDWDM channels.
