SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Gigabit Optics, a leading provider of integrated photonics components, today announced the introduction of a new passive product line -- the Gigabit Macro series, specifically designed to address current system needs of optical networking Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). The Gigabit Macro series consists of eight new products, featuring a lower-cost, drop-in replacement solution with competitive and reliable performance. This new product line joins Gigabit Optics' Micro Mux/Demux and OADM series and is founded on a patent-pending manufacturing process for assembling and integrating micro-optical components to create subassemblies for use in optical networking systems and subsystems focused on CWDM applications. These optical platforms are based on proprietary designs that can be configured in a variety of ways to accommodate different laser types, transmission speeds, form factors and connectors.
