FirstEnergy Manages Corning's Utilities

Public utility holding company signs service agreement with Corning for energy management services in the U.S.

CORNING, N.Y. -- FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE - News) announced today that its subsidiary, FirstEnergy Solutions Corp., has signed a multi- year agreement with Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW - News) for energy management services in the United States. Under the agreement, FirstEnergy Solutions will assist Corning in securing competitively priced electricity and natural gas, managing risk, and identifying energy-use patterns. FirstEnergy Solutions also will help identify ways to increase energy efficiency at 29 of the company's facilities in Maine, Massachusetts, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. "We're very pleased that Corning, a world leader in optical fiber technology, has chosen us to help manage its energy portfolio and consumption," said Doug Elliott, senior vice president of Retail Operations for FirstEnergy Solutions. This relationship provides Corning with the full breadth of FirstEnergy Solutions' resources to aggressively manage its energy utilization.
