LOD, Israel -- Ethernity Networks Ltd, a leading developer of networking engines, unveiled its MEA-LX. Ethernity’s MEA-LX merges the flexibility and programmability of a network processor with the performance of an ASIC to provide the required flexibility for L2/L3 protocols at the power and cost of an ASIC. The MEA-LX offers a dedicated and affordable 5Gbps solution to the extremely cost conscious telecom equipment market. Its affordability and rich feature set will prove especially useful in IP DSLAMs, IMAP and Ethernet aggregation platforms.

Based on a pipeline architecture of Ethernity’s unique micro engines, the MEA-LX integrates the functionality of a programmable L2 to L7 multi-field classifier, L2 switching , advanced traffic manager, configurable L2 protocol interworking including AAL5, Q-In-Q, MPLS, L2TP, PPP, GFP and MAC-in MAC. In addition MEA-LX equipped with DDR SDRAM, CPU, Utopia and several GMII/MII interfaces

MEA-LX traffic management enables service providers, for the first time, to sell and differentiate Ethernet best effort services and maximize their revenue by offering value added service. In addition, the traffic management includes per flow rate estimation, enhanced performance monitoring, hierarchical MEF compliance policing, hierarchical scheduling, and shaping.

“Ethernity’s MEA-LX device enables Teledata Networks’ customers to provide premium Ethernet Services over our Multi Service Access platform”. Said Eli Lotan, Teledata Network’s CTO. (www.teledata-networks.com) “MEA-LX technology clearly offers an excellent solution to deliver flexible L2/L3 functionality and advanced traffic management. The MEA-LX provides maximum flexibility in a very cost effective way”.
