SAN FRANCISCO -- Building on years of carrier infrastructure expertise and a unique understanding of next generation services, Metaswitch Networks introduced today a new class of session border controller. With the ability to independently scale signaling and media functions, Perimeta can support the explosive growth in SIP signaling traffic, brought on by services such as presence and IM, while dramatically reducing the cost associated with handling ever-increasing multimedia traffic loads.

Purpose-built for extreme scalability and deployment flexibility, Perimeta features discrete software modules for signaling and media functions which may be installed on separate hardware elements to provide a distributed solution to session border control, or combined together as an integrated appliance. This unique architecture provides the flexibility to meet rapidly growing demand for new SIP-based services that dramatically alter the balance between signaling and media, and enables substantial savings in Capex through a variety of media path optimizations. More than 30 network operators have already validated this approach and purchased Perimeta to fortify their communications networks.

"Metaswitch has a long history in developing SBC software solutions for OEM partners and deploying third party SBC platforms within our broad customer base," said Martin Taylor, Metaswitch CTO. "With the Perimeta product line, we have taken that experience and developed a high availability, carrier-grade SBC portfolio that can support today's explosive growth in VoIP deployments, rich communications and end-to-end IP networks."
